# Understanding Your ZESCO Electricity Bill ZESCO uses a tiered tariff structure for residential customers in Zambia. This means the price you pay per unit (kWh) increases as you consume more electricity during the month. ## The Tiered Structure (Residential) | Tier | Consumption (kWh) | Rate (K/kWh) | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Tier 1 | First 200 kWh | K0.47 | | Tier 2 | Next 300 kWh (201 - 500) | K1.07 | | Tier 3 | Above 500 kWh | K2.13 | *Note: Rates are subject to change and may include excise duty and VAT for certain categories.* ## How to Save on Electricity The first 200 kWh are significantly cheaper. To save money, try to keep your monthly consumption within the first tier. 1. Use energy-efficient appliances. 2. Turn off lights when not in use. 3. Use solar water heaters if possible.
